The Kansas Blackboard Users Group is a new organization in the state dedicated to furthering the improved use of Blackboard in both K-12 and post-secondary education. Recently, the organization held its spring meeting where participants were able to see and experience the new upcoming Blackboard version 6, scheduled for release later this year. Mark Kourchin from Blackboard was on hand to show off this incredible new upgrade.
Jan Hansen
Jan Hansen, an adjunct instructor for the Sociology Department, has taught courses in the Telecourse format for several semesters. This past year she began using a new TeleWeb course that blends the Web and Telecourse concept together into one course.
Emergency Medical Technician
John Dudte from the Emergency Medical Technician Department has begun pursuing the development of a statewide EMT program for Kansas. Using a combination of CD-ROM skill sets; CD-ROM didactic presentations; a Blackboard-based course; and traditional face-to-face instruction, John hopes to deliver EMT education to rural communities throughout the state to meet the ongoing need for medical providers.
Global Learning Symposium
Global learning is the combination of global reach, using modern communication technologies, with global perspectives, achieved by having students and faculty interact with their counterparts in other cultures, to produce the global graduate.
